Several years ago I had a friend develop a gallery site for my artwork. It was great at first, but like all digital artists I was constantly adding new things to my portfolio and removing old things. The site he built for me wasn't designed for modification. A couple of years later, another friend made some major updates to the site, but the world moves so quickly that the website was quickly outdated again. Recently the original site designer friend suggested that we keep my URL, but have it instead re-direct traffic to a third party site like Tumblr but I didn't care much for Tumblr. Too much of a blog site, and not enough showcasing art and photos. I have a Flickr account and really like their new updated site, but I regard that as a photo site, not an artist's site, so that brought me here.

So far I like DeviantART a lot, but it does have some major flaws, such as easily rearranging your images within folders. If there's an easy way to do that, please let me know! I do like the feedback from my peers and unlike other great sites such as CGSociety, I find DeviantART far more encompassing and their gallery layout more accessible.

I just started uploading my portfolio to the site and I've still got a long way's to go, but I love the feedback and traffic that my old private site never had. Here's to the new adventure.

Artist | Professional | Digital Art
United States
A computer artist since 1987, I originally started my professional life as a news artist and page designer for the Dallas Morning News. I left Dallas for Los Angeles in 1991 where I worked as a page designer and artist for the L.A. Daily news, designed trading cards for SkyBox, designed video packaging in Hollywood, designed toy packaging for Mattel Toys and eventually became a storyboard artist for the TV ad industry. I moved back to Dallas in 2009 and work from my home creating videogame background environments and storyboards for television commercials. Although I am not a professional photographer I am an avid hobbyist specializing in night photography and panoramics.
